South Lancs DA's Easter Holiday Site at Cartmel Racecourse 2008
This year the DA's Easter Holiday site was at Cartmel Racecourse and opened at 12 noon on Thursday 20th March and closed on Sunday 30th March.
The number of units on over the Easter Weekend and well the whole week was down on last year. This will have been due to Easter being so early, the school holidays being all over the place and the weather forecast. We had around 100 units on site over the Easter weekend.
We had a shorter walk this year on the Saturday - the weather was against us and the wind the night before the walk was bitter and very strong. This wind continued on the Saturday. The Saturday evening social was held in the Grandstand on the Racecourse this year. What a great room to hold a social - even managed to drain the lager from the pumps! Sunday saw the morning start with a Chick hunt for the children of the site, closely followed by the DA's horse race. We continued with the Boules and the Hoofers along with the Wellie Throwing competitions in the afternoon.
With all the games completed by the Sunday evening the Easter Prize giving took place on the Monday morning before those leaving after the Easter weekend packed up and made their way home.
